Venice's current owner says:

Wanted: a wonderful forever family for the ultimate good boy!! Important context: Venice is a sweet, gentle six year old 40 lb husky who has spent the past 10 months at the LA animal services shelter. He was placed on the euthanasia list at the end of July due to severe shelter overcrowding, and my partner and I agreed to bring him to Massachusetts where we are currently working to find the right family for him locally in the New England area. THE GOOD: y'all this pup is SO SWEET. 48 hours in and he was already a total snuggle muffin - he loves pats, kisses, and belly rubs. Zero aggression with people or other dogs (although he wouldn’t be a good fit for a home with cats or small pets). He bonds closely with “his people” and would prefer to be constantly in their vicinity. He’s been wonderful with children when he encounters them in our local park, and he’s also super playful. He would be an excellent fit for someone who is very active, as he walks well on leash and has seemingly boundless energy. THE CHALLENGING: we know very little about his life prior to shelter life. During his 10 month stint in the shelter, he has forgotten whatever training he previously had (although he relearned “sit” in less than a day - wildly smart and very easy to train/retrain). He is not house trained but we are working on that everyday. He will need more formal training for this in the long run. He’s mellowing out the longer he’s out of the shelter but still very anxious. He also seems to have food anxiety - he gobbles like he thinks his food is about to be taken away (although no aggression if you do remove it). I’m currently feeding him by hand or with puzzle toys to make sure he eats at a safe speed (both of which he loves). What he needs most right now is stability, routine, and lots of love and attention if you feel like you are the right person to offer him that, please reach out!! We are doing thorough screenings and “meet and greets” with potential new families to make sure he ends up in an environment that will be a good fit.
